Newborn Pics
My friend Ashley is a very talented photographer. I mean, VERY talented. She took my maternity pics and I knew I wanted to have her take Kellen's newborn pics when he arrived. Ashley and her friend Erin came to take Kellen's pics when he was just 8 days old. And, let me tell you, he was NOT having any of it! I fed him right before they arrived so he would be nice and sleepy, since those make for the cutest pics. This little guy would not fall asleep! He would drift off, then be wide awake, crying! After 4 hours of this, he finally gave in and Ash was able to work her magic. Take a look! I'm in love!

1 Month!
Say what?!
I can't believe it! One month has passed since our lives have changed forever. One month has passed since I felt more love in my heart than ever before. One month has passed since I realized what people meant when they said motherhood is the best thing ever. I am so excited to see my little boy getting bigger each and every day, but at the same time, I am sad that he is growing up so quickly. I love being able to cuddle with him while he's sleeping, nestled against my chest. I know this won't last forever and I am trying to savor everything now while I can.
So what has Kellen been up to this first month?

So what has Kellen been up to this first month?
- He now weighs 9lbs, 11oz and is 21 inches long. He's my little chunky monkey!
- He spends time each day on his tummy, which he tolerates pretty well. He is able to turn his head from side to side, lifting it slightly.
- He will occasionally give us a big, cheesy smile. Can't wait for this to become more consistent!
- He has been a good sleeper from Day 1. At 4 weeks old, he is sleeping 4-5 hour stretches at night, which mommy loves!
- He is definitely a boob man! LOL! He continues to be a breastfeeding champ. I love this bonding time with him, even if it means I don't get as much sleep as Daddy does!
- He hated his first few baths, but now lounges back in his baby tub and lets us scrub him down. He is so relaxed, he has even peed right in the middle of a bathing session!
- He's been to many of his Daddy's softball games, even though he slept through all of them. Don't tell Daddy, but the games can be pretty boring sometimes and Kellen just couldn't stay awake! =)
- Kellen got to see his Nana graduate from Northern Kentucky University! He is so proud of her, just like the rest of the family.
- We've had a few play dates with some of Mommy's friends who have recently had babies. Jack and Molly are Suzanne's 6 month old twins. Suzanne invited us over for lunch and play time, but like softball, Kellen didn't really find the twins to be too interesting because he slept the whole time we were there! I am sure he'll be ready to play in a few months! We have also met up with Sam, Shannon's little guy, who is just 3 days younger than Kellen. Sam and Kellen are going to be best buds just like their mommies!
Here are a few pictures of Kellen's first month of life:
